SPA GLOSSARY
Acupuncture: Thin needles stimulate specific points to activate immune system creating homeostasis. Effective for pain, respiratory, muscular and skeletal problems.
Aromatherapy Massage: A swedish massage incorporating the therapeutic benefits of custom blended pure essential oils.
Body Composition Analysis: Receive a printout explaining your body composition in terms of muscle and fat content.
Botanical Facial: A specialized skin care treatment which includes mild exfoliation and the use of an ampoule containing herbal extracts and active substances from nature.
Couples Massage: The beneficial effects of this massage are truly long lasting. Each partner receives a swedish massage by the therapist and then by each other, under the therapist's guidance. The next best thing to taking your massage therapist home!
Eye Contour Treatment: A specific process aimed to help restore youthful appearance of the skin around eye area. Great for wrinkles, dark circles, puffiness and tired eyes.
European Body Treatment: Our signature treatment, the ultimate spa experience, blends an
invigorating almond body scrub, swedish massage and hot herbal wrap. Nearly two hours of therapeutic bliss.
Fencing: Combines graceful coordinated movements and rigorous physical exercise to enhance hand and eye coordination and strengthen every muscle.
Glycolic Cleansing Facial: A complete facial using the newest skin exfoliant, glycolic acid, to safely remove dead skin cells from the outer layer of skin, enhancing the skin's texture and appearance.
Herbal Wrap: Deep heat treatment. Steaming linens soaked in a delicate blend of fragrant herbs enclose the body, soothing and relaxing tired muscles and nerves. Excellent in combination with a massage.
Herbal Healing Consultation: Design a personal program of healing herbs to enhance your well-being and address health issues.
Herbal Body Treatment: Hot herbal wrap to soothe nourish and relax followed by a full body swedish massage. One and a half hour treatment.
Hydrating Facial: The benefits of a facial, plus moisture concentrate and warm paraffin wax mask
to soften and smooth skin.
Hydrotherapy: Water-based massage treatment, using directed water jets programmed and synchronized to increase lymphatic drainage, relax sore muscles and stimulate circulation. Excellent pre- or post massage, scrub, body treatment or facial.
Mud Body Wrap: Warm dead sea mud is applied from neck to toes to detoxify, rehydrate and tone muscles.
Moor Mud Wrap: Following a light exfoliation, black moor mud is applied and encases the skin.
As the body eliminates toxins it absorbs essential minerals.
Oxygenating Facial: The application of an oxygen containing solution to the skin, intended to increase the presence of oxygen in the tissues - either for purification, increased cell metabolism or bacteriocidal effects.
Parafin: A warm wax used to improve circulation. Applied warm and quickly cools, forming a vacuum on the surface of the skin that improves dry and dehydrated, aging and lackluster complexions.
Personal Strength Training: The closest thing to the true fountain of youth. You will loose fat, reshape your body, prevent osteoporosis and so much more. Our personal trainer will design a routine specifically for you that will address your needs and goals as well as provide you with long lasting motivation and support.
Reflexology Massage: To stimulate the body's natural capacity to heal itself through pressure on specific areas of the foot which correspond to the internal organs.
Reiki: The ancient art of balancing the body's energy.
Sea Salt Body Scrub: An invigorating body scrub using Dead Sea salts, finishing with a rose mist and body lotion. Refines and nourishes skin, stimulates circulation, and improves skin color.
Shiatsu Massage: A japanese finger pressure massage used to stimulate energy pathways and reduce stress. Done fully clothed. Wear loose fitting attire.
Shirodhara Treatment: Incorporates gentle dripping of warm herbal oil onto the third eye to quiet the mind, with scalp and face massage.
Sports Massage: A vigorous massage that combines stretching and joint movements to help athletically active individuals recuperate from strenuous exercise and maximize their performance potential. Ideal for those who enjoy a firm massage.
Swedish Massage: A relaxing massage that reduces stress and muscle fatigue, improves circulation
and promotes proper functioning of mind and body.
Tui Na: A Gentle Chinese massage using acupuncture points to improve circulation and
energy flow. Very relaxing.
Vitamin C Facial: Combines power C peel, algae mask and Vitamin C eye cream to boost, brighten and strengthen your skin.

SPA FACILITIES AND PROCEDURES
We are a full-service, coed facility.
The spa offers a 60 ft. indoor, heated pool, dry sauna, jacuzzi, free weights and cardiovascular exercise equipment, 15 station Sprint Weight Circuit, volleyball field, decoturf tennis court and walking/cross country skiing trails on our private island.
All of our massage therapists are professionally certified and licensed. They wish to provide you with the optimal treatment; if you are uncomfortable for any reason: room temperature, depth of massage, music volume, please let them know during the treatment. Requests for male or female therapists are always considered, but cannot be guaranteed.
You will need to shower before your treatment. Let your provider know if you have any special physical or medical needs, conditions or considerations.
Certain body treatments, when taken in combination, can provide greater results than when taken individually.
Our facials include a neck, shoulder and facial massage as well as cleansing, steaming and pore extraction.
Bear in mind that many of our treatments are physical in nature, meant to reduce stress, muscle fatigue etc. As a result, you may experience a variety of symptoms following a Spa treatment including soreness, skin redness and minor bruising.
A 15% Service Charge will be applied to your total bill. Additional tipping is permitted but not required. State law requires that this service charge be taxed.
We require twenty-four (24) hours notice to change or cancel appointments for spa services; otherwise we must charge the regular rate for the time booked. We encourage you to call and make appointments at least two weeks prior to your arrival to assure availability of services.
All rates and services are subject to change without notice.
What to wear:
Our spa is a co-ed facility, so bring your swim suit and work-out clothes. Terry robes, thongs and towels are provided. Remember to bring athletic/hiking shoes For body treatments and massage you do not need any clothing. During treatments your body is going to be fully draped, except for the area being worked on.

The Waters:
The Copperhood Spa has an artesian well with natural high-mineral content water.
You may notice a slight odor, but the sulphur, iron, magnesium and other minerals have been
an essential part of healing and good heath at European Spas for centuries. So whether you
are soaking in our jacuzzi or just having a drink, you will benefit from the properties of
our local healing minerals.

Directions:
The Copperhood is 120 miles North-West of New York City and is easily accessible by car, bus or air.
By Car: Take I-87 (New York State Thruway ) to exit 19 Kingston, and take the first right after toll to Route 28, Pine Hill. Follow Route 28 for twenty six miles. The Inn will be on your left, 2 1/2 miles past the town of Phoenicia.
By Air: The Copperhood is 75 miles South of Albany Airport and 50 miles North of Stewart International Airport.
By Bus: Adirondack Trailways departs several times daily from Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan and stops by our door (get ticket to Allaben).
